Now THAT'S a cake!
This is why our kids should be in the kitchen.
Only an 11-year-old could create such a wild, wonderful, fantastic Sputnik of a cake. I wish I had half Audrey’s imagination and fearlessness in the kitchen. Though such fearlessness can have distinctly leaden consequences when baking. She knows what goes in a cake – flour, sugar, butter, eggs. It’s just that she’s never been awfully fond of measuring. Or following instructions. But, she’s finally learned an important kitchen lesson. To bake a cake with fine texture and flavor, we follow the recipe.
When decorating, however, anything goes. Who’s the Ace of Cakes now?

Way to go, Audrey! I have been telling my nephew Michael (who tends to have a heavy hand with the sprinkles) for years that “less is more.” These kids know it: MORE IS MORE.
And it tasted good too! That’s my girl.
